The president of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has denied a deal has been struck for Luiz Felipe Scolari to continue as coach after the World Cup - but admits an announcement could come soon.
"There will be news," Gilberto Madail said in remarks reported by www.record.pt. "I have spoken with Scolari, we have had conversations and at the right moment you will know."
Scolari, who led his homeland Brazil to victory in the 2002 World Cup, took Portugal to the Euro 2004 final where they lost to Greece and now has taken them to the World Cup semi-finals where they face France on Wednesday.
And striker Helder Postiga has joined the chorus of voices calling for Scolari to remain in charge once the World Cup is over.
Postiga, speaking at the national team's headquarters at Marienfeld, became the latest to call for 'Big Phil' to stay in charge.
"As all my colleagues have already said he (Scolari) is a person who, since arriving in the country, has done some brilliant things with Portugal," said Postiga who spent last season with St Etienne.
"That's all I need to say about Mister Scolari," said the former Tottenham player.
Scolari has transformed the fortunes of the national side that exited in the first-round stage at the last World Cup and is 90 minutes away from a personal return to the final but uncharted territory for his adopted country.
Portugal spent Monday in Marienfeld before moving on to Bavaria for the semi-final with the French.
If they win they will then head towards Berlin for the final, while defeat would see them travel to Stuttgart for a third-place play-off.
