Chelsea have moved swiftly to reject claims by Real Madrid presidential candidate Ramon Calderon that Dutch winger Arjen Robben would be among his signings if he wins power.

Calderon's amazing claim that Robben had already signed a pre-contract agreement was announced just 24 hours after another candidate, Juan Villar Mir, said Cristiano Ronaldo was ready to join the club should he win the forthcoming elections.

Manchester United reacted quickly to deny any Ronaldo sale and now Chelsea have followed suit - insisting they have not even spoken to Calderon or any of his representatives.

A statement from the Barclays Premiership Champions read: "Chelsea totally refutes statements made by Real Madrid presidential candidate Ramon Caldersn linking Chelsea winger Arjen Robben with a move to Real Madrid.

"Chelsea FC would like to make it clear that we have not spoken to Senor Caldersn or any of his representatives and categorically deny the suggestion that an agreement on any level has been reached."

Calderon was adamant that if he won power at Madrid then Robben and Brazil midfielder Kaka would be among the first arrivals.

More astonishingly, Calderon claimed that Robben has already agreed to join the club.

Calderon announced: "I have no doubt at all that Kaka will come to play for Madrid. I am delighted that he is coming.

"Robben has also signed a contract with us. It is not unusual though, for this club to attract players of this quality."

However, Milan have already insisted that Kaka is not for sale and now Chelsea have done the same.

Further revelations from the Real election race are expected on Thursday when Lorenzo Sanz is to announce his captures - with England's Ashley Cole rumoured to be amongst his targets.
