Switzerland will be without Arsenal central defender Philippe Senderos for Monday's World Cup second-round showdown with Ukraine in Cologne.

The 21-year-old sustained ligament damage when dislocating his shoulder after falling awkwardly in the 53rd minute of Friday's win over South Korea.

He will be sorely missed by the Swiss, who have yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

Coach Kobi Kuhn will have to reshuffle his rearguard as a result and that could mean a start for Senderos' Arsenal team-mate Johan Djourou, who replaced him against the Koreans.

However Kuhn is not giving any clues and has other alternatives including recalling Ludovic Magnin into his back four.

He declared his faith in Djourou on Sunday, saying of the 19-year-old: "I called him up in March for our game with Scotland and I never call up a player just so he can have another hat for his collection.

"He is a very interesting player for us. We have to do something new because of what happened to Philippe - there are possibilities.

"Magnin was not ready (for the Korea game) and had had a foot injury and although Ludovic wanted to play I think it was the right decision.

"There could be a ripple effect and he (Magnin) might be better."

Also on the Swiss injury front, midfielder Daniel Gygax should be available for selection despite a muscle strain that has limited his training.

Ukraine must change their line-up with defenders Andriy Rusol and Vyacheslav Sviderskiy both suspended.
