Switzerland and Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos will not be able to play again for five or six weeks, according the the medical staff of the Swiss national team.

Senderos dislocated a shoulder in the 2-0 win over South Korea that saw the Swiss through for a last-16 tie with Ukraine.

At the moment there are no plans for surgery for the defender but he will not be able to play again until August.

Switzerland team doctor Roland Grossen said: "We have had to immobilise his injury for two weeks and on Monday we will take him for an MRI scan to see if there are any additional problems.

"At the moment surgery is not necessary and that is something we have discussed fully with the Arsenal doctors.

"He should be able to play again in five or six weeks if there are no additional problems."
