Spain coach Luis Aragones was unimpressed with his team's performance against Saudi Arabia, despite victory.

Juanito's first-half header gave the Spaniards a 1-0 triumph in their last Group H match.

Following their convincing triumphs against Ukraine and Tunisia, Aragones gave his reserve players a chance to shine but almost all of them struggled.

"We have played badly in the second half," said Aragones. "We created a lot in the opening half and we should have scored more goals.

"After the re-start my team crumbled and we were at the mercy of our rivals.

"My players told me that the heat was a factor but that is no excuse."

Aragones was nevertheless satisfied with his team's first-round games.

"I am happy to have taken nine points," he said. "We have to keep our feet firmly in the ground, we are modestly happy but the tournament begins now.

Aragones insisted he has no preference on who their next rivals will be, with France, Switzerland and South Korea fighting for the spot.

"I really don't mind who we face next," he said.

"We will have to battle and work hard in order to win."

Saudi Arabia coach Marcos Paqueta praised his team's effort despite defeat that saw them crash out of the World Cup.

"My players gave their all in order to try and score today," he said.

"Spain played well, they used the counter-attack as their weapon.

"My players surged forward in the last 20 minutes and we had our chances to equalise.

"We failed to score but I have to congratulate my players for the work they have done not only today but throughout the tournament."

After their 2-2 draw against Tunisia in their opener, Paqueta's men were humiliated 4-0 by Ukraine in their second game.

"I think my players suffered from the emotional pressure of this game," he said.

"Having lost to Ukraine, we knew we had to win this game at all costs in order to have a chance to go through."

Paqueta believes his players lack experience at international tournaments.

"Experience is vital in a tournament like the World Cup," he said.

"My players are recognised in Asia but none of them play in European leagues and they lack experience at the highest level."

Paqueta is confident his team will be better in the future.

"I have been working with this team six months," he said.

"I have two years left in my contract and I think we can improve significantly."
