Guillermo Franco intends to blank out any dissenting noises from Mexico's supporters in the second phase of the World Cup.
Mexico go into the match against Argentina tomorrow stung by the criticism they have received.
They limped into the last 16 after opening with a victory against Iran. There followed a draw and a defeat against Angola and Portugal respectively.
The fans have been quick to voice their disapproval but Franco hopes they can win them over and seal a place in the quarter-finals.
The Villarreal striker said: "The reaction from the crowd does not have to bother us.
"When they back us and demonstrate their faith, they become part of the team.
"But when they hiss or boo because they do not like the way things are going, we have to think only for our ourselves."
Franco believes his side will have to hit the ground running and take their chances if they are to have any hope of overcoming the highly-fancied South Americans.
He said: "We cannot take a long time to settle on the pitch as happened against Portugal.
"This national team always attacks. We have missed some chances so far but we must go into the match with confidence."
Team captain Rafael Marquez is also upbeat.
"We go into the second stage in good form," said the Barcelona defender.
"One of our goals was to qualify for the next phase and we achieved it.
"We are here on merit as nobody gifted us anything.
"We have shown good character and play some good football in the tournament."
