Celtic striker Maciej Zurawski believes Poland can remain optimistic about the future because of the number of young players coming through.
A disappointing World Cup campaign ended with a victory against Costa Rica in Group A.
And at least Poland, who ran England close in qualifying, were spared the ignominy of finishing bottom of the table.
The result may not keep coach Pawel Janas in a job - he is due to hold crisis talks with the Polish football association on July 14.
But Zurawski was anxious to take some positives from the tournament.
He said: "It was very important for us to win our last game for the team and the coach.
"The future of Polish football is good, no matter what people are saying.
"There are some strong young players coming through and that is a positive thing."
Poland showed some fighting spirit after going behind to a goal from Ronald Gomez to clinch the points thanks to a brace from Bartosz Bosacki.
Zurawski, who came off in the second half, said: "I was tired after the first two games, that was the problem.
"But I am already looking forward to the start of next season."
Janas has become increasingly irritated at speculation surrounding his future.
He believes some of the criticism surrounding the way he sets his team up as being out of order.
Janas said: "It is not my decision whether I remain or not. Let us wait and see.
"I am just grateful that we finished the tournament by getting some goals and a victory."
