Paulo Wanchope would love nothing better than to be given another chance in the Barclays Premiership.
At 29, the striker believes he still has much to offer, especially now he has retired from international football.
Wanchope bowed out on the losing side as Costa Rica went down 2-1 to Poland to finish bottom of Group A.
Now the former Derby, Manchester City and West Ham striker is going on holiday before trying to plot a road to Europe again.
Currently on the books of Costa Rica side Herediano, he laughed and said: "Maybe I can get back to Manchester!"
Wanchope gave the reason for his decision to retire as the amount of travelling involved for his country.
He said: "I am still young but I am leaving the squad because of the travelling. It is enough for me.
"When you have to take a plane and travel 10-12 hours it is difficult.
"Hopefully I can come back to Europe and get a club but we will just have to wait and see.
"I will be ready because I will be able to rest for domestic games. That will be better for me."
Poland coach Pawel Janas insisted that he had not thought about his future plans in the build-up to the game.
He is due to have a meeting with the football association on July 14 when his fate will be determined.
Janas said: "I was not working in this match to stay in a job but to satisfy our marvellous supporters.
"We did not want to lose face and I have to congratulate the team on their performance.
"I can take the criticism when it is fair but some of the things that have been said and written have been out of order."
