Resignations and retirements are in the offing as Serbia and Montenegro play their last competitive match as a united nation against an Ivory Coast side also already eliminated from the World Cup.
The Serbo-Montenegrins are still smarting from a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Argentina in their previous match - an amazing scoreline considering they had only conceded one goal in their entire qualification campaign.
The Ivory Coast, meanwhile, have played some good football against Group C heavyweights Argentina and Holland but have lost both games.
Changes are in the offing for Serbia and Montenegro, which will soon be split into two countries following a vote in a referendum in Montenegro.
Striker Savo Milosevic is one player who will not be competing for the new Serbia team that eventually emerges from the ashes of the World Cup campaign.
Milosevic told Bild: "I have already played for Yugoslavia. Now I play for Serbia and Montenegro. But a third national team would be too many.
"I have enjoyed it but now, unfortunately, it has come to an end."
Mladen Krstajic has also indicated he will depart the stage at the end of the World Cup while Ilija Petkovic's offer to quit looks certain to be accepted after what was a disappointing campaign.
Milosevic admitted the team was dismayed at its performances in Germany, adding: "People in Serbia and Montenegro had high hopes for us but we let them down."
Petkovic looks likely to field some reserves in what is a dead match for both sides and, anyway, would be deprived of the services of injured defender Nemanja Vidic and suspended striker Mateja Kezman.
