Pavel Nedved has spoken of his frustration at the crisis that has struck the Czech Republic.
Ranked number two in the world, they face a crucial match against Italy on Thursday following the 2-0 defeat by Ghana.
However the Czechs are struggling to get a team together and their options look limited, especially in attack.
Milan Baros and Jan Koller are struggling with injuries while Vratislav Lokvenc has been ruled out of the crucial clash through suspension.
Fiorentina midfielder Tomas Ujfalusi will also be on the sidelines after his straight red card on Saturday.
Nedved said: "Our team is in the worst position of the group in terms of yellow cards and injuries and we don't have enough points - that's the reality."
A goal from Asamoah Gyan in the second minute was the first the Czechs had conceded in five competitive matches.
Gyan then missed a penalty after Ujfalusi's sending-off before Sulley Muntari sealed a special victory for the African nation.
Nedved said: "We could not play our game tactically because Ghana were very strong.
"We didn't have any clear-cut chances and we could not exert enough pressure. Some of the players like me also had problems with cramp."
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech prevented a rout with a string of superb blocks but that was little consolation to him.
"That is the worst result I have been involved in since I was a youth-team player, " he said.
"I am satisfied with my performance but I'm disappointed with my team and the result.
"But we have a chance against Italy. We've played against them a few times and are still confident of reaching our goal."
Arsenal-bound Tomas Rosicky added: "We feel awful. The first goal came so early and after that we were chasing the game.
"It was hard for us without (Vladimir) Smicer and (Milan) Baros."
Koller, meanwhile, could be involved in their final group game.
"My injury is not that bad, " he said. "It is not a pulled muscle but it is up to the doctors when I will be able to play again."
