Italy are refusing to underestimate the United States ahead of Saturday's World Cup Group E clash despite the Americans' resounding defeat to the Czech Republic.
The US reached the quarter-finals at the last World Cup and came into this tournament full of expectation.
However, Bruce Arena's men were overwhelmed by the Czechs in their opening game, while the Italians were impressive in beating Ghana.
"It's going to be a very difficult game," said striker Alberto Gilardino.
"The USA will be looking to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat and they know if they make a mistake against us, they will be out of the World Cup.
"We will have to remain focused in order to clinch three points against them."
Providing the Czechs get at least a draw against Ghana, a win would be enough for Marcello Lippi's side to progress to the last 16.
Gilardino has every confidence his team can go far in Germany.
"I don't think we have to fear anyone," he said.
"We are taking it one step at a time, keeping our feet firmly on the ground.
"We have the quality to do well and I think the fans enjoyed our performance against Ghana.
"We must now continue where we left off and hopefully the enthusiasm for our national team will continue to grow."
USA coach Bruce Arena has pinpointed Gilardino as Italy's main threat and the AC Milan striker is ready to prove it after failing to score against Ghana.
"It's always nice to receive compliments from coaches," he said.
"If he has said that he considers me the most dangerous player in my national team, I will try not to let him down, perhaps by scoring in Kaiserslautern."
Gilardino is set to play alongside Serie A top scorer Luca Toni, who also failed to find the target against the African nation.
Lippi is set to make just one change to the team that beat Ghana, with Gianluca Zambrotta having recovered from injury.
Zambrotta is likely to replace either Fabio Grosso or Cristian Zaccardo at full-back.
