Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung believes South Korea could make a big impact in the World Cup after their first win at this level on European soil.

France are next up for Korea in Group G on Sunday following the 2-1 victory against Togo.

The Koreans came from behind to secure all three points and Park said: "There is a lot of confidence in this squad. We did not panic after losing that goal. We had enough belief in ourselves to keep playing to our strengths."

Mohamed Kader gave Togo the lead but the game swung South Korea's way following the dismissal of Jean-Paul Abalo.

Lee Chun-Soo scored with a brilliant free-kick then Ahn Jung-Hwan thumped home the winner after stepping off the bench.

Park has no doubt about the quality of his team-mates.

He said: "When Ahn came on, we all expected a lot from him and he fulfilled those expectations.

"He has a lot of experience and that can tip the scales during a match.

"We saw that with the excellent goal he scored."

Lee's strike emphasised his promise. The 24-year-old forward wears the colours of Korean club Ulsan Tigers after spells with Spanish clubs Real Sociedad and Numancia.

Park added: "He is a real dead-ball specialist and has scored plenty of goals from positions like that.

"When he stepped up to take the free-kick we all knew he could make it dip into the back of the net."
