Jaroslav Plasil is still considered to be one of Europe's bright prospects but his progress of late has flattered to deceive.

The busy midfielder has played for French club Monaco since 2001 but it was his sparkling performances in the club's run to the Champions League final three years later which sparked the attention of Czech coach Karel Bruckner.

He was subsequently called into the Euro 2004 squad although he played little part as they reached the semi-finals, only to be knocked out by eventual winners Greece.

Although expected to become a valuable asset, Plasil has become one of Europe's forgotten men and is fighting for his place in the Principality.

However the 24-year-old fought his way into the Czechs' starting line-up during the back end of the World Cup qualifying campaign and played a crucial role in their play-off victory against Norway.

At his best, Plasil is exceptional with the ball at his feet and has a range of passing to play pinpoint balls from almost anywhere on the field. This summer he has the chance to prove he can deliver the goods on the biggest stage of all.
