Position: Forward

Club: Alaves

John Aloisi has already secured his place in Australian football folklore after scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout victory against Uruguay that took the Socceroos to the World Cup.

Strong and powerful, Aloisi is an old-fashioned frontman, particularly dangerous in the air.

Aloisi is one of several Australian players already familiar to English fans, after spells with Portsmouth and Coventry.

Since leaving the Sky Blues in 2001, Aloisi has plied his trade in Spain, spending four years with Osasuna before joining Alaves in summer 2005.

Despite a relatively modest scoring record at club level, his international goals have come at better than one every other game, and his experience could be crucial to his side's hopes in Germany.
