Position: Defender
Born: 07.06.77
Club: Wisla Krakow

An international debutant back in 2000, Marcin Baszczynski will probably be disappointed that six years later he is still well short of the 50-cap mark.

An aggressive and pacy defender, Baszczynski had to wait almost three years to take his caps tally from one to two and has only really become a first-choice in the right-back slot since the Poles failed to qualify for Euro 2004.

His form for Poland and club side Wisla Krakow attracted the interest of Alan Pardew earlier this year, and it would be no surprise to see the West Ham manager table a bid in excess of £1million for Baszczynski if he continues to impress this summer.

Strong and committed in the tackle but also no slouch when overlapping down the right flank, 'Baszczu' lists Ruch Chorzow among his former clubs and is a three-time Polish champion with Wisla.
