An important figure for Croatia in qualifying - appearing in eight of the 10 games albeit mostly as a substitute - Jerko Leko can be expected to feature more prominently at the tournament itself.

A physical and industrious midfielder, the Dynamo Kiev man made his breakthrough on the international scene between the the last World Cup and Euro 2004 and has already moved into the top 25 Croatin caps winners.

Leko began his professional career with Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Kiev for £2.5million - a substantial fee between two clubs in Eastern Europe.

Four years in the Ukrainian capital have provided Champions League experience as well as domestic silverware and the 26-year-old will relish showcasing his growing stature against the world's best this summer.
