A familiar face to Premiership watchers having spent the last two years with Fulham after a previous spell with Everton, Brian McBride will be playing in his third successive World Cup finals campaign this summer.
And the 'Greatest Show on Earth' holds happy memories for the striker - who turns 34 during the tournament - after he became the first American to score at more than one World Cup with a brace four years ago adding to his single strike at France 98.
Just outside the top 10 on the all-time American caps list, McBride is closing in on a century of caps and it is surely only a matter of time before he passes Hall of Famer Eric Wynalda to become the USA's highest-ever goalscorer.
Excellent with his back to goal and in the air, McBride has the build and attributes of an old-school English centre-forward and looks to have put the health and fitness worries that affected him in the lead up to the last World Cup - including a rare blood disorder that sidelined him for six months - firmly behind him.
Formerly with Columbus Crew, the big man will give opposing defences a torrid time and his partnership with Landon Donovan is one to watch.
