Position: Goalkeeper
Born: 29.11.69
Club: Borussia Monchengladbach

One of only three Americans to play over 1,000 minutes on the 'Road to Germany', Kasey Keller is firmly ensconced in the 'No 1' shirt despite stiff competition.

Even though Brad Friedel has retired from international football the American goalkeeping ranks boast the likes of Tim Howard and Marcus Hahnemann and it is a tribute to Keller's ability that he continues to be regarded as the top man.

Yet if there were any doubts about that standing he surely extinguished them by setting a national record by keeping eight clean sheets in qualifying.

A strong all-round keeper, Keller has spent 15 years in Europe after joining Millwall in 1990 and has played for Leicester Tottenham, Southampton and Rayo Vallecano.

But he is currently playing some of the best football of his career for Borussia Monchengladbach, whose fans voted him the team's best player before the winter break, and he will hope to shine in the place he now calls home this summer.
