Trinidad & Tobago's record scorer, Stern John scored the goals that earned them a play-off against Bahrain; indeed he has been netting at international level since the age of just 17.

It was in the US that John made his name at club level, New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers giving him his chance initally before he was snapped up by MLS side Columbus Crew.

He scored 52 goals in 62 matches for them and Nottingham Forest paid £2.5million to take him to the City Ground in 1999.

John then joined Birmingham in 2002 and the powerful striker helped them in to the Premiership through the play-offs, scoring in the semi-finals.

John struggled for Premiership starts and joined Coventry in 2004. In Germany he will form an experienced partnership with Dwight Yorke up front.
