A familar face to fans of English football, Leeds midfielder Eddie Lewis boasts an international career with the USA that stretches back almost a decade.
He made his debut as a 22-year-old against Peru in October 1996 but had to wait three years - until current incumbent Bruce Arena had settled in as national coach - for a consistent spot in the starting XI as well as his first goal.
Regular international football enabled Lewis to draw the attention of European clubs, with Fulham shelling out £2million to lure him from San Jose Earthquakes.
But he got little chance to impress at Craven Cottage and was on the move again two years later - joining Preston, where he would quickly become a fans' favourite.
That standing was affected by his move to Leeds last summer, even though he claimed he never wanted to leave.
Lewis has made his name as a flying left-winger able to produce crosses with pinpoint accuracy, but the emergence of DaMarcus Beasley has seen him carve out a new niche for himself at left-back in World Cup qualifying.
Hugely experienced, the Californian is one of Arena's trusty lieutenants and will see plenty of action this summer.
