Position: Forward
Born: 05.11.83
Club: Wolfsburg

MIke Hanke will probably not feature in the starting line-up this summer but the World Cup will provide valuable experience needed to become one of Germany's future stars.

The Wolfsburg striker was rewarded for his prolific 2004/05 Bundesliga season with a call-up to Germany's Confederations Cup squad last summer where he played four times and scored once in the 3-0 victory over Tunisia.

The talented frontman started his career in VfL Bochum's youth ranks but in 2000 made the move to Schalke where he made his first-team debut just a season later.

Having fallen down the pecking order at the Gelsenkirchen behind the likes of Ebbe Sand and Kevin Kuranyi despite his impressive displays, Wolfsburg snapped up Hanke at the beginning of this season and the youngster has proved to be an instant success, regularly hitting the net.
