Position: Forward

Club: Borussia Dortmund

If Matthew Amoah continues his impressive rise to the top this summer then the dark horses of the World Cup are sure to shock some leading nations.

Amoah caught the eye of several top European sides with his impressive scoring record in the Eredivisie where he registered a ratio of nearly one in every two games for Vitesse during his four-and-a-half year stint there.

After scoring nine goals in just 17 games this campaign the ruthless Ghanaian signed for Borussia Dortmund at the start of January's transfer window for an undisclosed fee.

His main strengths are his lightning pace and predatory instincts inside the area but his experience in Europe will be an added boost for his nation.

The 25-year-old will now be a settled Bundesliga star in time for Germany 2006 where he will be looking to enhance his growing reputation as one of Africa's top stars.
