Jose Francisco Fonseca is one of Mexico's brightest prospects and if he fulfills his true potential in Germany then Los Tricolores are sure to go far.

The striker made a name for himself in the World Cup qualifiers, sensationally pouncing four times in the second half of the 5-2 victory over Guatemala.

'El Kilkin' finished the preliminary campaign with 10 goals and finished fourth in the scorers' chart below fellow countrymen Jared Borgetti and Jaime Lozano - such is the strength of Mexico's frontline.

The lanky striker made his professional breakthrough with Mexican side La Piedad but a move to UNAM Pumas followed in 2002 where his 25 goals in his two-and-a-half year spell helped them win two Mexican League titles.

A lucrative move to Cruz Azul followed in January 2005 for a fee around $3.5million - one of the biggest domestic transfers in the country's history - and he quickly repaid his new employers as he scored 16 goals in 28 games and forged and deadly partnership with Argentina's Cesar Delgado.

Fonseca made his international debut in November 2004, scoring twice in a 2-1 friendly victory over Ecuador and he has not looked back from that moment, becoming a virtual ever-present in Mexico's starting line-up.

Dominant in the air and with an astute eye for goal, the 26-year-old is rapidly catching the eye of some of Europe's biggest clubs with his powerful performances and a successful World Cup could spark a frantic race for his signature.
