Omar Bravo could walk into many national sides at Germany 2006 but because to Mexico's exceptional striking prowess, the highly-rated forward will have to display his fighting qualities to make an impact this summer.

Formerly an amateur boxer before becoming a professional footballer, the pacy striker is relatively new on the international front having burst onto the scene in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, where he notched up two goals.

Since then Bravo has became one of the top contenders for Mexico's attacking line-up although Ricardo Lavolpe preferred Jared Borgetti and Francisco Fonseca in the Confederations Cup and the majority of World Cup qualifiers.

Bravo is a product of the Chivas de Guadalajara youth system and is now an established star of the side. Although he made his first-team debut at the tender age of 20 in February 2001, his appearances were restricted until the following year's Apertura when he scored six goals in 15 games.

The versatile striker, who can play in midfield, was the top Mexican scorer in the 2005 Clausara tournament with 12 goals and that consistent form has kept him in contention for a starting place in this summer's showpiece event.

Considered as a possible successor to Borgetti, Bravo may just have to make the most of substitute appearances to earn a prominent role in the future of Mexico's football future.
