Stepping into the shoes of the legendary Jose Luis Chilavert is no easy task but Justo Villar has proved to be a more than adequate replacement for the goalscoring keeper.

Villar became Chilavert's heir after making a name for himself in South America with his formidable shot-stopping, lightning reflexes and the confidence his presence instils in his defence. The classic goalkeeper, he does not take too many risks and makes his priority shot-stopping and commanding his area.

The now experienced goalkeeper started his career with Sol de America before moving to another team in the capital Asuncion, Libertad.

A string of fine performances in the qualifying campaign, including a clean sheet in the crucial 1-0 victory over Argentina last September, is a major factor why Paraguay will be making an appearance in Germany this summer.

In fact Villar did not concede one goal against the Argentines in qualifying and has a reputation of raising his game against the world's top strikers.

Although he made his international debut in 1999 against Guatemala, his only previous experience of a World Cup in 2002 was simply to warm the bench.

But with Villar between the posts this time around the South American nation will not be merely making up the numbers and should be a hard nut for the likes of England to crack.
