Teddy Lucic was handed his first international call-up in 1995 while playing for IFK Gothenburg, where he would win the Swedish championship in 1996.
His performances for club and country earned him a move to Italian side Bologna where he struggled to settle in, and his form was affected.
He returned to Sweden with AIK Solna, where his reputation as a hard-working defender grew and Terry Venables took Lucic on a season-long loan for Leeds, but he did not impress and a permanent deal was never struck.
He went to Germany to play for Bayer Leverkusen, before returning to Sweden in search of regular football with BK Hacken.
Despite an indifferent club career, Lucic has amassed a wealth of experience with the national team largely due to his never-say-die approach to the game, and his useful ability to play anywhere across the back four.
Lucic could also have represented Finland and Croatia due to his parentage, but he has been a valued servant to the Sweden side.
