Known as 'Roadrunner' for his electrifying pace and diminuitive stature, Santos will be Tunisia's main attacking threat at the World Cup.
Santos, or Francileudo dos Santos to give him his full name, was playing for Sampaio in his native Brazil when Standard Liege offered him the chance to play in Europe.
He didn't manage to secure a regular starting place at the Belgian side and joined up with Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia, but after scoring 32 goals in 52 games there he was back on his way to Europe with Sochaux.
Santos had made a lasting impression on the footballing authorities in Tunisia, though, and after initially rejecting the opportunity, he agreed to play for the national team in 2004 having gained Tunisian citizenship.
He scored on his international debut and was a revelation at the 2004 African Nations Cup, topping the goalscoring charts as they won the tournament.
He continued his good form in World Cup qualifying by scoring six goals in seven matches and matched his goal total of four from 2004 at this year's African Nations Cup, but Tunisia went out in the quarter-finals.
