Esteban Cambiasso is a holding midfielder who has become a key player for Inter Milan after failing to make the expected breakthrough at Real Madrid.

Cambiasso joined Real aged 16 and was loaned back to Argentina for spells at Independiente and River Plate.

In 2002 he broke into the Real first team and played a starring role in their 3-0 win over Feyenoord in the European Super Cup final.

The following season he featured prominently in the Champions League and helped Real to the league title, but never established himself as an automatic starter.

Sensing that he would never be first choice at Bernabeu he moved on a free transfer to Inter, where he has become a key player particularly during his second season that culminated in an Italian Cup win over Roma.

Cambiasso combines hard-working defensive qualities with skill, vision and the ability to pop up with the odd goal.
