Equally comfortable in a holding role or on the right of midfield, Lucho Gonzalez has established himself as valued player for Argentina.
After moving to River Plate from Huracan in 2002, he helped them to two league titles and made his international debut against Honduras in 2003.
He won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and after over 100 games and 20 goals at River, Portuguese giants Porto paid 3.6 million euros for half his registration.
He played a major part in Argentina's qualifying campaign and had 20 caps and five goals to his name by the time it had been sealed.
