Nuno Valente is a tough-tackling attacking full-back who can cross well and has a venomous shot.

He has plenty in common with his fellow full-back Paulo Ferreira, including an international debut against England at Villa Park in September 2002.

While Ferreira joined Chelsea, Valente moved to Everton from Porto after helping them win the UEFA Cup and the Champions League in consecutive seasons.

An ever-present during Euro 2004, he has also played for Sporting Lisbon, Maritimo and Uniao Leira.
