Lucio is the rock on which Brazil build their defence around.

He is the archetypal Brazilian centre-back and few - if any - defenders in the world can rival his skill and vision on the ball.

He played a key role in helping Bayer Leverkusen to the 2001 Champions League final, where he got himself on the scoresheet against Real Madrid.

Lucio moved to Bayern Munich in 2004 and impressed hugely in his first season, helping himself to a league and cup double.

He has a huge task on his hands to keep Brazil's carefree defence solid and he can be prone to the occasional defensive lapse.

However, if he can keep these to a minimum, Lucio has a massive part to play in Brazil's World Cup quest.
