Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson has retired from international football once already, but was convinced to return by his young son, much to the relief of the Swedish fans.
Larsson, who was awarded the title of Greatest Swedish Player of the Last 50 Years, began his career at Hogaborg in the Swedish third division. He was soon signed up for Helsingborg, his hometown club, and had made the national team by 1993.
He scored on his debut, a qualifier against Finland, and joined Feyenoord not long afterwards. He struggled at first but his lethal eye for goal was evident before too long, and he was snapped up by Celtic in 1997 for #650,000.
It proved to be a bargain for Celtic and Larsson would go on to score 242 goals in 315 appearances, winning the European Golden Shoe in the process. He also scored twice in the UEFA Cup final against Porto but they lost 3-2.
This will be Larsson's last major international tournament, so he will want to go out on a high, and his partnership with Ibrahimovic will be one of the most potent at the World Cup.
