Freddie Ljungberg began training with Halmstads aged just 5, but he had a while to wait before he made his debut in 1994. He won the league title and the cup in his time there.
By 1998 the hard working midfielder had made the national team and debuted against the USA. He signed for Arsenal just six days after a qualifying match with England, turning down Sheffield Wednesday.
Arsene Wenger's decision to sign him was vindicated almost instantly as Ljungberg came off the bench to score against Manchester United on his debut.
Arsenal went on to win a league and cup double in 2002, with Ljungberg scoring the winner in the FA Cup final. He scored many important goals that year and duly won the FA Barclaycard Player of the Year for 2002.
Ljungberg has been a major star in the Premier League for some years now and his late runs into the box to finish off moves have become legendary. England will have to keep him quiet if they are to end their 37-year run without beating Sweden.
