Markus Rosenberg is mystified as to why he is out of favour with Sweden coach Lars Lagerback, claiming he would do a better job than current stand-in striker Marcus Allback.
Despite having had an impressive season with club side Ajax in Holland's Eredivisie, Rosenberg is down the pecking order for his national team and is the only striker in the Sweden squad not to have been given any playing time in the World Cup.
With star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to be ruled out of Tuesday's Group B clash with England with a groin injury, Allback, who has come on as substitute against both Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago, is likely to be the partner of veteran Henrik Larsson up front.
Rosenberg, 23, is adamant, however, that he is the man to fire his goal-shy nation to success against Sven-Goran Eriksson's side.
"It is most likely that Lagerback will choose Allback from the start against England because of his experience," he told Swedish newspaper Goteborgs-Posten.
"Allback is good, but at the same time we are different players. I would have put in better performances than him."
Rosenberg, who scored 13 times in his debut season for Ajax in the 2005-06 campaign, cannot understand why he keeps being ignored, even though Sweden have struggled to find the back of the net so far in the tournament.
"All five strikers (Larsson, Ibrahimovic, Allback, Mattias Jonson and Johan Elmander) played against Paraguay - everyone except me," he added.
"It is not difficult to figure out that I am the sixth-choice forward.
"I do not know whether to laugh or cry. If you have had a good season like I have, it is a strange feeling."
