Mexico defender Mario Mendez insists Los Tricolores will be focused on the job in hand against Portugal as they look to secure qualification from World Cup Group D.

Mexico must claim a point in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday to ensure they progress to the knockout stage, or hope Angola fail to take maximum points against Iran.

"We intend to play a good match so that we are confident when we reach the next stage," said Mendez.

Mendez, who faced both Iran and Angola, stated that Mexico will keep the same style against Portugal.

"We want to have the same football idea," he added.
