Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi will know by Friday his punishment for elbowing United States striker Brian McBride in the teams' Group E draw at the weekend.
FIFA's disciplinary committee are still studying the USA v Italy match in which Roma midfielder De Rossi was shown a red card after his elbow left the American dripping with blood.
McBride needed three stitches before he was able to return to the pitch.
De Rossi will miss Thursday's clash against the Czech Republic and could be banned for an additional three games.
"I have left him (De Rossi) to boil in his own soup," said Lippi. "He is a fantastic guy, but he must change his computer chip."
Lippi intended to speak with De Rossi about the incident on Monday.
USA's Pablo Mastroeni and Eddie Pope were sent off in separate incidents and will miss the game against Ghana.
