Paraguay duo Roberto Acuna and Carlos Gamarra are preparing to bring the curtain down on their international careers when the team meets Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday.
The South Americans will end their adventure in Germany against the Caribbean side, having failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament after defeats against England and Sweden in their Group B matches.
With more than 100 international appearances to his name, the 35-year-old Gamarra is the most capped player in Paraguayan history.
However, the experienced Palmeiras defender admitted the time has come to retire from the Albiroja.
"I have no regrets," said Gamarra. "I know that I have always tried to give the best for my national team."
Acuna, who has been the playmaker for Paraguay since he made his international debut in March 1993, also believes it is time to give youth a chance.
"It's inevitable to have a generational change in the national team," said Acuna, who currently plays in the Primera Liga with Deportivo La Coruna.
"I sincerely hope that the new generation can surpass the achievements this group has done and that they can take Paraguay all the way to the top."
Meanwhile, midfielder Diego Barreto looks poised to replace Carlos Bonet for Tuesday's match against Trinidad and Tobago.
Bonet injured his thigh in Paraguay's 1-0 defeat to Sweden and is struggling to prove his fitness.
Coach Anibal Ruiz rested all the players that featured against Sweden in Saturday's training session as they prepare to face the Soca Warriors.
