Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi has called on his Japan team-mates to follow South Korea's example in a bid to revive their World Cup campaign.
Japan let slip a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 to Australia in their opening game and goalkeeper Kawaguchi believes they can learn a lot from their Asian neighbours' attacking style.
He told a press conference: "Korea aren't afraid to make mistakes, they attack without fear.
"We need to have that same spirit, we shouldn't be afraid of the result. If you worry too much about the result you get negative."
On Sunday Japan face a Croatia side looking for revenge for their narrow defeat to Brazil and Kawaguchi insists they cannot sit back.
"We have to go in with the feeling we have nothing to lose and take the game to Croatia," said Kawaguchi, who will be seeking revenge of his own having also played in Japan's 1-0 defeat by Croatia at the 1998 World Cup.
"It felt terrible to lose against Australia. But we just have to make sure we take out our frustration on Croatia."
