A hugely promising young striker, Dante Lopez earned a late call-up to the Paraguay squad when veteran striker Jose Cardozo was forced to pull out with a calf injury.

Lopez is unlikely to start many games in Germany, but with his pace will be a dangerous player coming off the bench.

And with Roque Santa Cruz struggling with injury, Lopez could yet get his chance.

Lopez is currently with Italian side Genoa, having previously represented Paraguayan giants Olimpia.

He scored a goal in Paraguay's 2-0 victory over Germany in the 2003 FIFA Youth Championships, but made just one substitute appearance as the full side secured their place in Germany.
