Drafted into the squad following the withdrawal of Damian Gorawski after he was diagnosed with a "serious circulation and respiratory problem", Bartosz Bosacki was something of a surprise call-up.

With Gorawski a midfielder by trade it was expected Pawel Janas would replace like with like, but in Bosacki he has added another defender.

An international debutant back in 2002, the 30-year-old had to wait over two years for his second cap and remains on the fringes of the squad, as evidenced by his omission from Janas' original 23-man party.

Formerly with FC Nurnberg in Germany, Bosacki now plays his club football back in his homeland with Lech Poznan.
