Malek Mouath has come from nowhere this season to gatecrash the Saudi World Cup squad.

After starting as an attacking midfielder with Al Ansaar, he was converted into an out-and-out striker after joining Al Ahli.

He has excellent positional sense, a good turn of pace and a real eye for goal.

His muscular style makes him ideally suited to the Saudi tactic of sitting deep and then hitting teams on the break, but he will need to improve his distribution play.

Mouath probably only sealed his place in Marcos Paqueta's squad with his performance in the friendly victory over fellow finalists Togo on the eve of the squad announcements.

Mouath scored the only goal, and he will hope that fine performance was just a taste of things to come.
