Mohammed Massad forced his way into the squad with some fine performances for his club side Al Ahli and is one of the more unexpected choices for the World Cup squad.

He has caught the eye in a number of friendly internationals for the Saudis having played no part in qualification.

Massad's versatility may have got him the nod from Marcos Paqueta. He is comfortable on either side of the defence and can also operate in midfield if required.
