A veteran of three previous World Cups, Mohammed Al Daeyea may have kept the number one jersey, but he is no longer Saudi Arabia's first-choice.
Mabrouk Zaid has taken on that role, playing eight out of 10 games in qualifying, but Al Deayea's experience will still be an asset to the squad in Germany.
He caught the eye early on in his career as part of a promising Saudi youth squad that toured Scotland in the 1980s, and he went on to fulfil that potential by the time the 1994 finals were played in the US.
Al Daeyea is strong and agile, and although he has always been suspect when coming for crosses, he is a more than useful understudy.
