Sasa Ilic was for a long time a one-club man, playing for Partizan Belgrade for almost 10 years.

He is a skilful playmaker and a prolific goalscorer, at least at club level.

Ilic joined Galatasaray in the summer of 2005 and scored twice in his first league match.

He was used mainly off the bench in qualification for Germany, but did score in the 2-0 win over Lithuania

On joining Gala, Ilic was offered the No 10 shirt, but chose instead to wear his old Partizan number 22, the same number he will wear at the World Cup.
