Oliver Neuville is one of the most experienced members in the German squad, but it's not his goalscoring which has endeared him to the fans. The 33-year-old made his international debut in September 1998 against Malta and since then has gone on to win over 50 caps but has scored just a handful of goals.
But his tremendous work ethic has won the hearts of former clubs Hansa Rostock and Bayer Leverkusen as well as current employers Borussia Monchengladbach.
Blessed with acceleration, Neuville is an expert on the counter attack and possesses astute tactical awareness.
He made six appearances in the 2002 World Cup, scoring once, and is hoping coach Jurgen Klinsmann gives him a similar opportunity to shine this time round.
