Francisco Javier Rodriguez is a powerful defender who has become a major player for Mexico over the qualifying campaign.

Nicknamed 'Maza', the 24-year-old stands at 6ft 2in and is club side Guadalajara's tallest player.

Rodriguez is physically dominating but he is best known for his incredible heading ability which saves his side on countless occasions.

Having started his career in 2002 for his current club, Rodriguez first entered the international scene in a match against Chile two years later before appearing in the Athens Olympics Games.

'Maza' played in 11 World Cup qualifying games and is expected to be awarded a starting role this summer as he continues his swift development into a world-class player.
