Sergei Rebrov came to prominence as Andriy Shevchenko's strike partner in the great Dynamo Kiev team of the late 1990s.
A string of outstanding performances, especially in the Champions League, earned him a £11million move to Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur.
But Rebrov struggled at Spurs, and found his first-team chances limited under Glenn Hoddle.
Unsuccessful loan spells with Turkish side Fenerbahce and West Ham followed before he returned to Kiev in the summer of 2005.
Rebrov is not the force he once was, and he had only 22 minutes' playing time in qualification, but he could be set for one last dazzling display on the international stage.
