Mehrzad Madanchi appears blessed with perfect timing, having saved his best display of the year for the game before the announcement of Iran's provisional squad.

At just 21 years old, he's the youngest midfielder in the squad, but his impressive level of performance for the rest of his debut season with Iran's biggest club Persepolis made him difficult to ignore when the final cut was made.

Although he can also play up front, Madanchi is primarily a pacy, skilful and tenacious left-winger, and he will need all his powers of determination to break into the first XI in Germany this summer.
