A regular goalscorer at club level pretty much through out his career, Julio Cruz has found breaking into the Argentina squad a tougher nut to crack.
Indeed when the squad was named for this summer's Finals he had won just 15 caps for his country, and failed to feature at all in the qualifying campaign.
Now 31, Cruz is a tall and powerful striker who is just as good in the box as he is with his back to goal bringing others into the game.
A debutant back in 1997 the Inter Milan striker scored in a warm-up game for the last World Cup but failed to make the cut and was cast into the international wilderness.
Now back in the fold, albeit most probably on the fringes of the first XI, the former Banfield, River Plate, Feyenoord and Bologna man will hope to take the form that saw him average a goal every two games for Inter this season to Germany.
