Carlos Salcido will be Mexico's starting left-back at the World Cup having made a massive impact in his relatively short career.

The 26-year-old only made his international debut two years ago against Trinidad & Tobago, but he has now become a firm fixture in coach Ricardo Lavolpe's plans.

He played in every one of Mexico's World Cup qualifiers and his searing speed and acceleration down the left ran many of his opponents ragged.

Salcido is also solid when defending but it's his versatility which has been his greatest asset to the side.

Having also played every minute of Mexico's Confederations Cup campaign last summer in Germany, Salcido will be ready for anything on this great stage.
